Lo scopo primario del mio progetto di tesi è stato quello di definire un sistema di variabili che entrino in gioco quando si voglia affrontare un progetto tipografico in un ambito come quello dei Microcaratteri.
Questo progetto ha previsto tre fasi progettuali.
Nella prima fase dell’esperimento ho stabilito le caratteristiche e le variabili di disegno della font: peso, forma, proporzionie e metrica. Tali variabili definiscono gli assi di un sistema polare. In seguito ho disegnato il carattere base posto che si pone al centro del sistema. Il passaggio successivo è stato poi quello di disegnare tutti gli estremi di questo sistema polare partendo dalla forma del carattere di base.
La seconda fase del progetto ha visto l’interpolazione dei caratteri disegnati e collocati sui diversi assi del sistema polare precedentemente definito. L’interpolazione ha dato vita ad una serie infinita di font risultanti. Attraverso una serie di prove e combinazioni sono giunta ad individuare un carattere che mantenesse un buon livello di leggibilità a corpo 3 e che fosse coerente l’obiettivo di partenza.
Nella terza fase, partendo dal disegno del carattere scelto, ho definito un ulteriore sistema di variabili legate questa volta all’irregolarità delle forme.
